Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association

Since its inception in 1934, the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) has stood as a bastion of tradition, excellence, and camaraderie. Founded with H.T.C Field as its pioneering President, the association has evolved from humble beginnings into a prestigious network boasting the crème de la crème of society among its esteemed members.

In its nascent stages, GCIOBA's meetings were held in the homes of its members, reflecting the intimate camaraderie that laid the foundation for its enduring legacy. Over the years, visionary leaders have guided the association's trajectory, each leaving an indelible mark on its history. From the stewardship of Benjamin Oguntimehin to the present leadership of Olawale Babalakin, GCIOBA's presidents have steered the organization through epochs of growth and development.

With branches spanning across Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja, Osogbo, Abeokuta, Akure, Europe, USA, and Canada, GCIOBA's reach extends far beyond its alma mater's walls. The annual national reunion, held every October, serves as a focal point for members to converge, reconnect, and celebrate shared memories. This gathering includes the Annual General Meeting, the Reunion Luncheon, and the prestigious Merit Award ceremony, honoring individuals who exemplify the association's values.

At the helm of GCIOBA's governance is the National Executive Council, the highest decision-making body, which oversees the organization's affairs and initiatives. Through the establishment of various committees, the council ensures the smooth functioning and strategic direction of the association, upholding its commitment to excellence and progress.

A significant milestone in GCIOBA's history occurred in 2022 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Oyo State Government. This partnership empowered the association to manage, operate, and develop Government College Ibadan, marking a pivotal moment in its dedication to the alma mater's advancement.
