GCI Students Trained in Responsible AI Use Through Learning Initiative
A total of 80 students of Government College Ibadan (GCI) have benefited from a digital learning initiative aimed at strengthening academic performance through the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
The programme, known as the AI-Enabled SDG 4 Learning Club, was facilitated by Arogbonlo Israel in collaboration with Reactivate Africa Foundation. Designed as a 30-day capacity-building project, the initiative focused on promoting quality education in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4.
Throughout the programme, participating students were introduced to practical and ethical applications of AI to support learning across subjects such as Biology, English, and Art. Emphasis was placed on using technology as a learning aid rather than a replacement for independent thinking, encouraging creativity, comprehension, and critical reasoning.
Teachers and facilitators observed improved engagement, increased confidence, and a more proactive learning attitude among the students. The initiative also equipped participants with foundational digital skills needed to navigate modern academic environments responsibly.
Following the success of the programme, the AI-Enabled SDG 4 Learning Club is expected to continue at Government College Ibadan under guided supervision, contributing to the school’s growing emphasis on innovation, digital literacy, and future-ready education.
