GCIOBA PRESIDENT DONATES CROCKERY AND SCHOOL UNIFORMS TO GCI BOYS
On Saturday, 25th January 2026, the National President of the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA), Wale Babalakin, donated 1,000 crockery items and 409 school uniforms, consisting of the school uniform and the hostel wear, to students of Government College Ibadan (GCI).
The donation of the crockery items followed observations by the Old Boys that a large number of hostel crockery previously in use had been lost and vandalised, with about 70 per cent no longer available. In response, the GCIOBA President procured the items to improve student welfare in the hostels.
While presenting the crockery, Dr. Babalakin issued strict instructions on proper maintenance, stressing the importance of discipline and responsibility among students. He stated that any student who destroys crockery would have their parents held responsible for replacement, emphasizing accountability.
In addition, 409 school uniforms were donated following repeated observations during the President’s visits to the school that students wore different variations of the school’s uniform. He noted that as a historic institution such as Government College Ibadan, uniformity in appearance must be upheld to promote discipline and identity.
The donation ceremony was attended by several GCIOBA National Executive Council (NEC) members, house governors, and members of the school management, including the Principal, Olugbemi Oresegun. The project was coordinated by the Swanston House Governor, Dupe Oyedele.
The initiative underscores GCIOBA’s continued commitment to student welfare, discipline, and the preservation of standards at Government College Ibadan.
