GCI Wins 2018 Independence Match Past Contest Again
No fewer than 75 public secondary schools in Oyo State participated in the 2018 Independence Match Past Contest organised by the Oyo State Government.
The event took place at the Obafei Awolowo Sports Complex, formerly called Liberty Stadium, on Monday, 1st of October, 2018 to mark the 58th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
At the end of the keenly contested match past, Government College Ibadan, the defending champion, came first, while St. Ann's College and St. Theresa's College, Oke - Ado came second and third respectively.
While presenting the trophy, award and certificate of participation, the Oyo State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Ogunesan, on behalf of the Oyo State Governor, congratulated the boys of Government College Ibadan for another sterling performance displayed. She admonished them to keep the flag flying and also be good ambassadors of the Pacesetter State.
It would be recalled that GCI had won the contest for the past three years consecutively.
