Prof. Yerokun is a Soil Scientist specializing in soil fertility and applied soil chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. Soil Science and M.Sc. in Crop and Soil Sciences from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA, and B.S. Biology from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina, USA. Currently, he is the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Zambian Open University and also a Steering Committee member for the Agribusiness Incubation Trust (AgBIT), Lusaka and the Agricultural Productivity Programme for Southern Africa (APPSA).

Previously Prof Yerokun served as the Inaugural Dean of the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Mulungushi University, Kabwe Zambia (March, 2009 – October, 2015), where he attained full Professorship. At Mulungushi University, he served on the University Council, University Executive Management Committee, and the University Senate. Previously he served on the faculty in the School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Zambia, from January, 1994 to February, 2009, where he held various portfolios, including Assistant Dean (Research), and member of the University Senate. His other experiences in Zambia have been as Programme Manager at the Cooperative League of the USA (CLUSA) (1999-2001) and Farm Manager with Chibote Farms (1990-1992).
