PRINCIPAL (2010 - 2014)

Simeon Olusola Oladele was born on the second of March, 1957 in the historic city of Ibadan.

He had his Secondary Education at Methodist High School, Ibadan and obtained his West African School Certificate in the year 1975; after which he proceeded to Federal School of Forestry, Ibadan for his Forest Assistant Certificate in the year 1977. His academic sojourn continued at the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile - Ife) where he graduated in grand style from the Faculty of Education in the year 1981. He returned to the premier University - University of Ibadan for his Masters Degree which he successfully completed in the year 1988.

His Teaching profession commenced in the year 1981 as an English Language Teacher at Osi Central Local Government Area of Kwara State during his National Youth Service Corps. In September 9, 1982; the Oyo State Civil Service Commission employed him as an Education Officer (English Language/Literature-in-English Teacher) and he was posted to Government College Ibadan, where he served in various capacities such as Classroom Teacher, English Language and Literature - in - English Teacher, House Master, Boarding House Master, Games Master and Guidance Counsellor. In the year 1992, he became the Local Inspector of Education and served in Ido Local Government 1992 - 1993) and Ona Ara Local Government (1994 - 1996). In 1996, he became a Vice - Principal, and was transferred to Wesley College of Science and Technology, Elekuro, Ibadan.

In 1997, he was transferred back to Government College Ibadan where he served as the Vice-Principal from 1997 to 2001. In 2001, he was made a Local Inspector of Education and served in Ibadan North West LGA from 2001 to 2003, Ibadan South West from 2003 to 2006 and Ibadan North from 2007 to 2008. In 2008, he rose to the level of a Deputy Director, Quality Control Department, Ministry of Education, after which he further rose to the level of a Zonal Inspector of Education, Ibarapa zone, from 2009 to February, 2011. Between February 2011 and October 5, 2011, he served as the Director of PR&S AANFE, Ibadan after which he finally rose to the Office of the Principal in October, 2011 and was posted to Government College Ibadan.

Under his management, nearly all the College buildings, Administrative Block, Laboratories (Agric. Lab. by 1961 Set, Chemistry lab. by 1981 Set, Biology Lab. by Ibadan Branch and Physics Lab. by the intervention of an Old Boy, Prof. Afolabi.) and Aso Rock (formerly known as HSC Block) have been consistently refurbished and presently functional. Also, a new block of 4 Classrooms and 9 - Room facility for Computer Technology courtesy of 1985 Class Set, Borehole Project by Class Set of 1991, two different Borehole projects courtesy of the North California Branch, Toilet and Environment Sanitation Facilities have been successfully facilitated, commissioned and currently in use.

He also didn’t neglect the academic development of his students and training of his teachers as he facilitated the introduction of 11 Support Teachers, solely sponsored by the Alumni Association & Class Sets of the School, donation of support materials and equipments by the 1979 Class Set, Brand New School Bus by 1973 Class Set, Furniture for classes and Installation of White Boards. As a Principal, he has attracted investment worth of over Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira to the College.

During his administration, the overall academic performance of GCI Students increased significantly, which was evidenced in the WAEC Results (from 6% and & 13% to 85% and 86.3% in Maths and English respectively), the College has also been excelling in various curricular activities such as inter School Debate, Quiz Competition; and the School is adjudged the best virtually in all sports (GCI reached the Semi - Final stage of the National Shell Cup Competition and came fourth out of over 1000 Schools) in Oyo State.

On August 7, 2016, the Ibadan Branch of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association awarded him with a Meritorious Award for his outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the School.

Pastor Simeon Olusola Oladele retired from the Teaching Service as a Principal at GCI on the Second of March, 2017.

He is happily married and blessed with children.
