Seun Fakorede (2003) completes tetrad of GCI Old Boys As Commissioners At Oyo State Ministry of Youth & Sports

Members of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, GCIOBA have received with bliss the good news of the nomination of Seun Fakorede, - a 27 years old graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University as the Commissioner-designate for Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports. The news was disclosed by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon.) Adebo Ogundoyin, on Monday, 19th of August, 2019.

The 2003 Set member of Government College Ibadan is the fourth GCI Old Boy to serve in the office.

Seun Fakorede (Grier, 2003) succeeded Abayomi Oke (Powell, 1979) who occupied the seat from June 2016 to May 2019.

It would be recalled that Umar Alao Arisekola (1992) was the first Old Boy of Government College Ibadan to be appointed as the Honourable Commissioner of Youth and Sports in 2011. He was succeeded by the son of the late Oyo State Governor, Alhaji Lam Adesina, Adedapo Lam Adesina (Grier, 1991-January) who was appointed as Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State between August 2011 and September 2013 by the erstwhile Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

In this fourth Republic, 27 years old Seun Fakorede shattered the record of Mark Okoye, who was appointed as the Honourable Commissioner
for Economic Planning and Budget Development in Anambra State at the age of 30 in 2016. However, he shares the same record with his grand teur, Victor Omololu Olunloyo (Grier, 1948) who became the Western Regional Commissioner for Economic Development in 1962 at the age of 27.

Seun Fakorede aka Fakoo hails from Idera area of Ibarapa Central Local Government, and attended the prestigious Government College, Ibadan between 2003 and 2005 where he became the Head of School in 2005. He was in Field House where he represented his House in a lot of track and field events at different points in time. He attended Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied Civil Engineering and graduated in 2016.
