OLUSEUN Abimbola (Formerly SODEINDE)

Oluseun Abimbola is widely regarded as a forensic advocate. He is a Negotiator, Arbitrator and Mediator. He is an alumnus of the Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, from where he obtained a Bachelors Degree (LLB) and a Masters degree in Law (LL.M), and was called to the Nigerian Bar in December 1993 as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He holds international certification as an International Mediator accredited by the Center for Effective Dispute Resolution, (CEDR) U.K. in 2004, and sits on the Panel of Neutrals, and as member of faculty, of the Lagos Multi-door Court House, and the Oyo State Multi-door Court House.

Oluseun Abimbola is a versatile litigator and internationally acknowledged for his business advisory skills in corporate and commercial practice. He participated in the Harvard Business School Negotiation Course in 2005 and is an Alumnus of the Haggai Institute U.S.A, leadership course of 2006. Oluseun Abimbola is reputed for his innovative dispute resolution skills. As a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, he pioneered the Law Firm Management Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as its Chairman from 2008 to 2010. He was Vice Chairman of the NBA Section on Legal Practice (2010 – 2012, and re-appointed in 2017 till date), and has been a Council member of the Section from 2008 till date.

He served as Secretary and later Chairman of the NBA Conference Planning Committees from 2008 till 2014, and has been a Member of the NBA National Executive Committee (the highest governing body of the Bar) from 2008 to 2018. He was elected Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association Ibadan Branch where he served from 2012 - 2014. He is a member of the Council of Legal Education, Nigeria, member of the eminent regulatory body for lawyers, the Body of Benchers, and was Chairman of the National Election Working Group of the Nigerian Bar Association from 2015 to 2016.

Oluseun Abimbola is a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, and the International Bar Association, where he served as a member of the Advisory Board of the International Bar Association (IBA) Law Firm Management Committee from 2010 to 2013. He is recognized in the 2015 and 2016 International Who’s Who Legal Publication as a Featured Global Legal Expert of the Year in Telecommunications, Media and Technology Law in Nigeria. He has, among other awards, received the Distinguished Service Award of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch in 2014, and was thrice awarded the Bar President’s Award of Merit and Excellence by the Presidents of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2010, 2014 and in 2016 for his outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the development of the Bar. He also sits as a member of the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee of the Body of Benchers.

Oluseun Abimbola is a regular speaker at various international conferences and an author of several publications on Law, business, development, and lifestyle. He was until his appointment, a Partner and Head, Commercial Practice Group in a thriving commercial law firm in Nigeria, Prime Solicitors. He was appointed in June 2016 as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oyo state where he served till May, 2019.

He is married with children.
