GCI Principal, Dr Tunde Odekunle Celebrates One Year In Office

It was exactly one year today, Friday, 2nd of March, 2018 that Dr Tunde Odekunle assumed office as the Principal of the Senior School of Government College Ibadan. It would be recalled that a year ago, he succeeded Pastor Simeon Oladele who retired from the Oyo State Teaching Service on 2nd of March, 2017.

A Novelty Football Match between the SSS II and SSS I Boys of Government College Ibadan was organised to celebrate his 365 days in office. The SSS II boys displayed their prowess and dexterity by thrashing their junior colleagues with two non-replied goals to win the trophy for their beloved Principal.

Dr Tunde Odekunle, the 29th Principal of the College also paid a courtesy visit to the Principal that admitted him as a student in 1976, Mr John Olasupo Molomo (Swanston, 1942) at his Erunmu residence along Ibadan - Iwo Road, Oyo Sate.

Dr B.T. Odekunle (3241, Powell, 1976) is the first Powellite, and sixth Old Boy to have emerged as the Principal of the College. His emergence came after 26 years that Mr. T.O. Olanrewaju (1950) served as the Principal of the school between 1989 and 1991.

This vibrant, result-driven, humble and innovative gentleman had served at different points in time as an Education Officer, Registrar of Examinations, Local Inspector of Education, Deputy Director and Principal within the Oyo State Ministry of Education before being transferred to Government College Ibadan as the current and 29th Principal of the Institution.
