Mr. D.O. Ajekigbe had the privilege of starting his career as a Master in GCI in 1978 under the Principalship of Mr. J.O. Molomo (1942), an Old Boy of the College. He is a product of Ogbomoso Grammar School,Ogbomoso where he also had the privilege of having an Old Boy of GCI as his Principal. His second Principal in GCI, Mr Olufemi Adesoji (1955) was also an Old Boy of GCI. So, the major part of his early training was under the products of GCI. After his sojourn as Assistant Director and later Deputy Director of Education at the State Headquarters, he was first appointed the pioneer Principal of School of Science, Pade Village and later pioneer Principal of School of Science, Ogbomoso.

Mr. Ajekigbe later served as Zonal Inspector of Education in Ogbomoso and Ibadan before his subsequent transfer to GCI as Principal in 1999 where he remained until September 2000. During his stint, He ensured that GCI was a model in modern educational practices as envisaged when the college was established, and upheld the GCI traditions.
