Dr Bolarinwa Rahman Ayodele is currently a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Haematologist at the Department of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Obafemi Awolowo University and Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria respectively. He currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Haematology and Immunology, and Chairman of the OAUTHC Laboratory Revolving Committee.

He had his tertiary education at the College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile - Ife, and later proceeded to Cairo Training Center, Cairo, Egypt and University of Ibadan, Ibadan for his Postgraduate studies in Transplantation Immunology and Chemical Pathology respectively. He further trained and was certified in Molecular Oncology at the University of Millano-Bicocca and San Gerardo Hospital, Monza, Italy; and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, USA in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

In 2008, he joined the Department of Haematology and Immunology, College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, a year later, he joined the OAU Teaching Hospital as an Honorary Consultant Haematologist, having completed his Residency programme at the same hospital in 2006. He has since served in various professional associations such as Faculty Postgraduate Committee, Research and Ethics Committee of OAU Institute of Public Health (IPH); National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, etc.

He has contributed to Science in the area of haemato-oncology in several national and international published academic journals, and has completed various researches in the field.

His area of interest is haemato-oncology and haemoglobinopathy, he has been actively involved in the management of haematologic cancer presents since 2003. His center has been the hub for the molecular diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). This has informed collaborative work with other center of excellence for CML management and the International Chronic Myeloid leukemia Foundation (iCMLf). He has on the platform of iCMLf attended training program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle in 2013.

He is a member of the Nigerian Oncology Society and a member of the the AORTIC. With other co-researchers, their present focus is on the use of Pharmacogenetics as a tool in the optimisation of imatinib therapy in Nigerian chronic myeloid leukaemia patients.
