Babatunde Adetunji Adeyemi Adesanya was born on the 7th of August 1948 to Dr. & Mrs. A. A. Adesanya both of blessed memory at the Massey, Children’s Hospital Itafaji, Lagos.

He was the first of six children. He attended St. Peter’s School (Faji) Lagos from 1954-1961 with one of his classmates and long life friend Rear Admiral Taiwo Odedina (Rtd).

He followed his father’s footsteps to Government College, Ibadan in 1962 and was in Grier House. At school, he was a member of the Army Cadet Corps, a long distance runner and Head of Grier House in 1968. He struck a lifelong friendship with Dr. Bambo Oyekan, Bimbola Oladapo, Bayo Adewusi, Kola Abe, Folabi Macaulay, Femi Oredein, William Kayode, most of them his GCI classmates.

With a WAEC Grade I Certificate and three papers in HSC, he gained admission to the University of Ibadan to read Physiology and graduated in 1972. At U.I, he added more friends, Laolu Taiwo, Laolu Akinkugbe, Tunji Tubi and Ademola Adenuga.

His burning desire was to be a medical doctor like his father, so he went and read medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and graduated with MBBS in 1979.

His post-graduate training was at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where he obtained the F.WACS in 1994 and FMCORL in 1996.
He was a member of St. Jude’s Church, Ebute-Metta, where he had been a chorister.

He started his working career with the General Hospital Ikeja as a House Officer in 1979-80 and rose to Senior House Officer. He joined Naval Medical Service, as Medical Officer in 1982 and rose to Commodore/Chief Consultant ENT Nigerian Navy in 2006. He won several honours in the Naval - Forces Service Staff (FSS), Pass Staff College (PSC) and Meritorious Service Star (MSS).

He was a Fellow of West African College of Surgeon (1994) and Fellow, National Postgraduate Medical College (1995).

He belonged to several learned associations... Member, Nigerian Medical Association; Member Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Nigena; Member, Pan African Federation of ORL Societies. He was married and had 5 children and a grandchild. In 2008, he ended his earthly journey and was elevated to higher realms.
